Introducing LocalOps Spaces

Introducing LocalOps Spaces

We believe we are entering SaaS 2.0 decade now - the Private SaaS era.

10 years ago, businesses found it very easy to sign up and use any software online. They didn't mind sending their data to a SaaS tool hosted on a random server hosted in a random part of the globe.

10 years ago, developers found it easy to host their B2B service on a server, get customers to sign up from different parts of the globe and be in business!

All of this has changed now.

SaaS services have way more chances of leaking data when using a tonne of third-party APIs, databases, and developer tools hosted across the globe, sending personal information to those servers and locations. Data goes to a tonne of places, who knows where?

Hackers have way more sophisticated tools & methods and accessible high compute, to breach data systems without a sweat.

Governments are introducing more data protection laws to safeguard PII/PHI/others and imposing millions of dollars in fines for acts of security negligence. It is way more difficult for businesses to signup for SaaS and still comply by these laws, today.

Businesses are more paranoid than ever about data safety. They hesitate to share their data with SaaS vendors & their tree of third parties because they feel less in control and are afraid of their data being stolen, leaked, or misused.

We are entering a decade where B2B SaaS, in its current form, will grow more and more applicable for small businesses who prefer Price over Privacy & Security.

Businesses today like the speed and productivity of SaaS apps AND want to be in full control of their data. They want to see the best of both worlds!

Thankfully, cloud infrastructure has matured very well over the last decade and is more programmable now than ever. And cloud native technologies like Docker and Kubernetes have matured up very well, making it easier to run any application anywhere.

Today, it is trivial to run any app in any cloud and in any region across the world. Anywhere customers want and anywhere customers feel more in control! This is exactly what Private Spaces will do.

Today, we are introducing LocalOps Spaces.

Businesses can spin up a Private Space anywhere on the cloud, effortlessly setup any app, enjoy more data control and savings within, while getting the same overall SaaS-y experience.

What is a Private Space?

Private space is one's own dedicated space on the web.

Technically, it is an exclusive, light weight, fully automated network periphery on the cloud that would be exclusive to one single entity/user/business. It would provide exclusive infrastructure - Network/CPU/Disk/Memory for anything that is run inside.

Private spaces can be created in our AWS cloud account or Customer's cloud account across AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure. And across 100+ regions.

Any cloud-native, Docker, or Kubernetes app can run inside private spaces. This includes business apps, developer tools, AI models, Adhoc functions, jobs and other services.

Fully automated

Backups, and updates are fully automated within this cloud-native private space, for the SaaS-y experience.

More control

Customers can customise the space any way they like. Any way their security team, IT, or CIO likes, and set their own data safety standard within. Customise backups, application update frequency, encryption settings, log settings, etc.

They can control what/where/how data gets in and gets out.

More privacy

The private space belongs to one customer. No cloud resource is shared with other private spaces, including Network, CPU, Disk and Memory.

More savings

Any number of apps or services can run inside a private space, reducing the TCO (total cost of ownership) of the cloud resources significantly down. We can scale up or down cloud resources in a private space in no time based on actual usage, saving even more in between.

Where are we headed?

We want businesses to spin up their private space as soon as they buy their domain on the web. We will make private spaces more powerful, more simple, and more accessible for everyone.

With private spaces, customers can effortlessly setup applications privately in their region, define their own data safety rules, and stay in full control. Just the way it is always meant to be.

Sign up now

As we enter this Private SaaS decade, we want to build tools to make the transition smoother for businesses and developers moving from the traditional SaaS to ✨Private SaaS✨.

Today, we are releasing "LocalOps Spaces" for limited public preview. We may close this preview after we hit 1000 signups.

You can now sign up for an account, spin up a trial private space for your business for free. You can experience what it feels like, to use Private spaces. Experience freedom and privacy!

If you are one of the first 100 signups, you will get one private space at a flat 50% lifetime discount on LocalOps charges after we launch the stable version.

We are releasing this early to collect customer feedback. Things might break in there today. So please don't put anything mission-critical inside your private space yet. Today and in the next set of months, we will incrementally build towards stability and introduce other capabilities.

Later, during the first half of 2024, we will release tools to help developers package, distribute & manage their SaaS products as cloud-native or space-native apps, to any cloud customers want. This will open up new markets, industries and revenue streams for startups!

Please write to me at [email protected] if you have any questions. Our team is super excited about this launch and would love to get your questions, comments, and feedback (hopefully constructive).

Cheers.
